So interesting. Years ago I stopped anything connected to astrology not wanting to be sacriligeous. This book explains how sky signs have been skewed by evil and shows our Creator's true intent. The Gospel is portrayed nightly in the Lord's heavenly billboard. Fascinating!
Seiss is a scholar head and shoulders above the rest and even though he is yesteryear, this work is profound explaining the real message of the stars and the ancients knowledge of them. His thesis is that God has put a great message in the stars to which ancient astronomy attests. Following the work of many others Dr. Seiss pulls together the message and how they read it. The magnificent zodiac of Dandera is clearly the most beautiful i have ever seen. While all cultures agree on the basic constellations, it is the Jewish names of certain stars which are the names of messiah in the Hebrew test. The messages are not over and if one can discover the paradigm the wise men used to discover the time and country of Messiah's birth and destiny, he will not only become wise but will have the key to the sign in the heavens of Jesus soon return to establish His kingdom. How I love this book. It was my introduction to the purpose of the stars being set in place and held there for thousands of years.I discovered the purpose wasn't so I could pidgonhole my friends into standard personality traits. NO. The stars tell the whole human race about our Redeemer who came to earth that He might demonstrate the Father's Love for the people. The stars were set in place long before any of their stories were told. Sure enough, each constellation had it's stage in Heaven. Each story unfolded in due time right on schedule. How wonderful the story! How marvelous His love for us.!! Told about from the beginning of time. I would rage this book a ten (10) if it were possible. It may be difficult to read at times but WELL worth the effort. Great classic book.
I teach Astronomy to students from Kindergarten though sixth grade, and this book helped me see the purpose and design behind the Zodiac, and helped me explain to others not to fear the Zodiac, but to embrace it for the purpose for which it was placed. It is heavy with detail and a bit much to take-in all at once, so I found I had to rest between chapters and go back and review some of the evidences in order to really get them. I really do like the information given though-very enlightening.
A little bit of a hard read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it--opened my eyes to how the Zodiac should be viewed, as Per The Almighty God who created the Heavens and the Earth! Of COURSE He would have a design to all of the constellations, and a story to go with it---that is exactly how He does things!!!
First published in 1882, this book was written before the days of computers and easy-edits. Thus some of it is cumbersome to read. However the amazing information shared makes it well worth the effort! It brings a whole new perception of the constellations, their nature and source, as well as their earliest symbolic meanings. Even though parts are difficult to read, the overall message is well worth it. This book can alter a reader's view of things next time he or she gazes at the stars!
Best book on Astronomy and the Gospel. Used it over the years to teach my sons. Gave my book to one son for him to teach his kids; need the other to re read.
This reads a bit like a text book, so not the most exciting. However, as a Christian that loves to look at the night sky this book was very refreshing. It has always bothered me that somehow pagan religions and symbols have been able to dominate something that should bring glory to God.
